Organic Cotton Pillow Cases: Satin or Percale
- Satin Ecru: Satin is one of the finest types of weave. Due to its softness, it provides great comfort. These pillowcases are dye-free and come in their natural colour.
- Soft Percale: Our organic percale combines comfort with durability. Available in various bicolour patters, which are one colour on the top side and another on the bottom.
- Both weaves are made in the EU from the finest organic cotton.
Percale and satin pillow cases - environmentally-friendly organic cotton
Our pillow cases are made from percale and satin are particularly soft and comfortable. They have different colours on the top and bottom sides and can be used flexibly. They perfectly match our duvet covers and fitted sheets in terms of colour - turn the pillows over and give your bedroom a new look.
The percale and satin weaves are soft, but also durable, so our pillows are very long-lasting. We use organic cotton and manufacture our pillow cases in Portugal to shorten transport routes and do as little harm to the environment as possible. Our pillow cases are breathable and ensure a pleasant sleeping climate.
Pillow cases made from purely natural materials
We only use organic natural materials in the manufacture of our pillow cases. Why do we do this? Synthetic fibres like polyester are made from oil and are harmful to us and the environment. They release microfibre particles when washed, which then end up in the waste water and eventually in our food chain via the rivers and oceans.
GOTS certified organic cotton - Our GOTS certified cotton is biodegradable and particularly gentle on sensitive skin. It is also extremely breathable and moisture absorbant - after all, we lose up to three litres of water through sweating when we sleep. Cotton is not only particularly soft, but also temperature and moisture regulating.
GOTS seal - The GOTS seal (Global Organic Textile Standard) is a globally respected standard in the textile industry. It verifies that not only the fabrics are made from natural fibres, but also ensures that the entire production chain adheres to their standards.
The stages covered by the seal include:
- Raw material production and the cultivation of natural fibres
- Fabric production and processing (spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, making up and finishing)
- Transport and trade (transport routes between production steps up to the end consumer)
- Use phase by the owner
Percale pillow cases - Percale is produced using the plain weave and is a fine-threaded and densely woven cotton fabric. The surface of percale pillow cases is smooth and soft and ensures a particularly relaxed night's sleep. Our breathable pillow cases feel pleasantly cool on the skin, especially in the summer. The crepe structure of our percale pillow cases allows air to circulate and moisture to be optimally absorbed.
Percale's unique structure makes fabrics made with this weave extremely durable and easy to care for. In addition, percale is also kind to the skin and resistant to fraying. This fabric is especially popular with allergy sufferers, people with sensitive skin or children.
Satin pillow cases - Satin is a popular material for bed and pillow cases, especially due to its elegant appearance and sheen. Satin is produced in an elaborate satin weave in which the weft threads predominate on the upper side and the warp threads on the underside. However, satin can do more than just look good. Satin pillow cases can be used all year round and have a pleasant temperature-balancing effect. Satin nestles gently against the skin and is extremely low-maintenance, as it does not need to be ironed.
Synthetic or blended fabrics are often used in satin production, but we at Zizzz make sure that only one hundred percent pure cotton, which is sustainable and biodegradable, goes into our pillow cases. For more information on this topic, see our blog article on organic cotton!
Available colours and sizes of our pillow cases
Our pillow cases have a different colour on the top side than on the bottom side. This makes it almost like having two bedding sets and they match our duvet covers perfectly.
Our percale pillow cases are available in the following colour combinations: grey & beige, white & grey and white & beige. They are available in four different sizes: 65x65cm - 50x70cm - 60x60cm and 40x60cm.
Our satin pollow cases are available in one colour, namely the natural colour of the cotton fibres. No dyes were used in the production of our satin pillow cases, which makes them particularly gentle on the skin. Our satin pillow cases are available in five different sizes: 65x65cm - 50x70cm - 60x70cm - 60x60cm and 40x60cm.
Our contribution to sustainability
At Zizzz, keeping our environment as clean as possible and preserving it for future generations is one of our core values. This is exactly why we've designed all our products to be as sustainable as possible.
Our goods are made exclusively in Europe to shorten transport distances and keep carbon emissions low. Our pillow cases are made in Portugal and our wool comes happy sheep raised right here in the Swiss Alps.
Dye-free pillow cases - Dyes can not only harm the skin, but also have a negative impact on the environment. Dyeing fabrics requires a lot of energy and often involves the use of dyes and chemicals which contain heavy metals.
To prevent this, our satin pillow cases are completely dye-free and our percale duvet covers are offered in three classic colours.
Pollutant-free pillow cases - Pollutants in textiles are not only dangerous for factory workers, but can also contaminate waste water and trigger allergies. That's why we don't use pesticides or other bleaching agents.
Durable pillow cases - Our pillow cases are extremely durable and can withstand heavy use. For this reason, they can be used for several years and do not end up in the rubbish as quickly as lower-quality fabrics.
