A duvet cover – sometimes called a quilt cover or comforter cover – protects your duvet and gives your bed its look. At Zizzz all our duvet covers are made from certified organic cotton, in two weaves: percale, cool and matt, and satin, smooth and soft. With matching fitted sheets and pillowcases they make a complete bedding set.
Choose your duvet cover by the size of your duvet, not your mattress. For a 160 × 210 cm duvet, take a 160 × 210 cm cover.
Which duvet cover size do I need?
In Switzerland the most common duvet sizes are 160 × 210 cm for one person and 200 × 210 cm for two. Large double beds call for 240 × 240 or 240 × 260 cm, and 140 × 200 cm is a more compact single duvet, very common in Germany and France.

Colours and designs
Our percale duvet covers are two-tone and reversible: white and grey, white and beige, grey and beige, white and teal, beige and teal, grey and teal – plus two white models with a trim, in beige or navy blue. In satin you can choose natural, undyed écru or our Lucky Star pattern, which matches our baby sleeping bags and pyjamas. Not every colour is available in every size: each size page shows the models on offer.

Percale duvet covers
Percale is a tight plain weave: each thread passes alternately over and under the crossing thread. At 220 threads per square inch it gives a fine, matt, breathable fabric – ideal if you tend to get warm at night – that gets softer with every wash. Our percale covers close with a zip. Satin duvet covers
Satin is woven so that most of the threads lie on the surface: the fabric is smooth and soft, with a subtle sheen. At 276 threads per square inch it is denser than our percale and more enveloping. Our écru satin is not dyed: its warm, natural tone is the original colour of the cotton. Depending on the model and size, our satin covers close with a zip or a flap. See all our satin duvet covers.
GOTS-certified organic cotton
Our percale duvet covers are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton. The Global Organic Textile Standard combines certified organic fibres with strict environmental and social criteria for textile processing, and checks the whole supply chain up to the finished product. Our satin is made from certified organic cotton.
Care: washing, drying, ironing
Percale and satin can both be washed at up to 60 °C. Close the zip or fold in the flap before washing. Ironing is usually unnecessary: shake the cover out well and hang it up, or put it straight back on the duvet when it comes out of the dryer.

Our duvet covers are sewn in Portugal, in percale and in satin, by a partner we know well and visit regularly.
Frequently asked questions about duvet covers
What size duvet cover do I need for my duvet?
The same size as your duvet: a 160 × 210 cm duvet goes into a 160 × 210 cm cover. The size refers to the duvet, not the mattress – if in doubt, measure your duvet.
What are the most common duvet sizes in Switzerland?
160 × 210 cm for one person and 200 × 210 cm for two. For large double beds there are also 240 × 240 and 240 × 260 cm; 140 × 200 cm is a more compact single duvet.
Duvet cover, quilt cover, bedding set: what is the difference?
A duvet cover and a quilt cover are the same thing: the fabric case that goes over your duvet. A bedding set usually means a duvet cover with matching pillowcases, sometimes with a fitted sheet.
Which duvet cover for a 160 or 180 cm bed?
If you share one duvet, take 240 × 240 cm or 240 × 260 cm; 200 × 210 cm also works on a 160 cm bed. If you each have your own duvet, as is common in Switzerland, take two 160 × 210 cm covers.
Which pillowcases go with my duvet cover?
All our pillowcases come in the same fabrics. In Switzerland the most common sizes are 65 × 65 cm pillowcases and 65 × 100 cm pillowcases.
How do your duvet covers close?
Our percale covers close with a zip. In satin the closure depends on the model and size: zip or flap. Each product page shows which.
Does a percale or satin duvet cover need ironing?
Usually not. Give it a good shake and hang it up, or put it straight back on the duvet when it comes out of the dryer. Percale gets softer with every wash, and satin naturally keeps a smooth surface.
