Is satin bed linen made of silk?
No. Satin is a weave, not a material. Our fitted sheets are woven from organic cotton in a satin weave. In a satin weave, individual threads run over longer stretches on the surface before they are bound in again. This means fewer interlacing points; the fabric feels smoother and gets its subtle sheen. It remains cotton – washable at 60 °C and with no synthetic fibre. Our cotton satin has 276 TC and a fabric weight of 120 g/m². TC (thread count) is the number of warp and weft threads per square inch (6.45 cm²) of fabric. Ecru: undyed cotton
Our satin fitted sheets come in a single tone – which is no dye at all. Ecru is the natural colour of cotton.
Our satin fitted sheets are not dyed. The fabric therefore does without added dye – of interest to anyone who wants as few extra dyeing and finishing steps as possible in their textiles.
A second advantage: because the ecru tone does not come from added dye, there is no colour that can wash out or fade. As with all natural fibres, the natural tone may change slightly over time with use, washing or light.
Seven sizes, including children's beds
We make satin in more sizes than percale – including for baby and children's beds. What counts is always the mattress, not the bed frame.

Besides width and length, mattress height matters: the satin fitted sheets fit mattresses up to 26 cm high. With a topper, measure the full height the fitted sheet needs to cover.

Frequently asked questions about satin fitted sheets
Fitted sheet or bottom sheet – what's the difference?
A fitted sheet has elastic all round and stretches over the mattress; a flat bottom sheet has to be tucked in. Our satin fitted sheets are fitted sheets with elastic all round.
What size do I need?
What counts is the width and length of your mattress, not the bed frame. Our satin fitted sheets come in 90 × 200, 140 × 200, 160 × 200 and 180 × 200 cm, and for children's beds in 60 × 120, 70 × 100 and 70 × 140 cm.
What mattress height does a satin fitted sheet fit?
Up to 26 cm. Percale fits up to 30 cm. Measure the height of your mattress including any topper, and choose the weave accordingly.
Are there satin fitted sheets for children's beds?
Yes, in 60 × 120, 70 × 100 and 70 × 140 cm – in the same undyed cotton satin as the adult sizes. You'll find all models under children's fitted sheets.
Does the satin fitted sheet fit a mattress with a topper?
Yes, if the mattress and topper together are no more than 26 cm high and are to be covered together by the fitted sheet. For a separate topper, measure its own width, length and height.
Is a satin fitted sheet made of silk?
No. Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Zizzz satin fitted sheets are made of organic cotton, not silk. The satin weave is what gives the smooth surface with a subtle sheen.
Satin or percale for a fitted sheet?
Satin feels smooth, soft and fluid; percale matte, crisp and rather dry to the touch. If you get warm quickly at night, you will often find percale more comfortable. Percale fitted sheets come in several colours and for mattresses up to 30 cm.
How do I wash a satin fitted sheet?
In the machine at up to 60 °C. Satin is comparatively easy to iron; it's best to put the fitted sheet straight back on the mattress after washing or drying.
