Questions about our duvets

What is the difference between wool, down and synthetic duvets?

Down and synthetics are primarily insulators - they keep the body hot and don't release heat. During the night, these insulators raise our body temperature, which makes us feel hot. So, we either wake up fully or toss and turn to cool off. If you ever woke up feeling sweaty, this is likely why.

Wool is not just an insulator; it also acts as a temperature regulator. Wool naturally absorbs and releases moisture to either cool or warm your body. You get warm quickly when you sleep in wool, but thanks to the fabric’s exceptional breathability, you do not overheat.

What size duvet should I choose to fit my bed?

When it comes to choosing the right size duvet for your bed, there are a few factors to consider beyond just the size of the bed itself. You should also take into account the desired drop on each side of the bed and the body shape and movements of the sleepers.

Here are our recommendations based on bed size:

For a single bed of 80x200 cm, 90x200 cm, or 140x200 cm, we suggest a 140x200 cm duvet.

For even more comfort on a single bed of the same size, you could opt for a larger duvet of 160x210 cm (Swiss standard size).

If you have a double bed that measures 120x190-200 cm and want to avoid too much fall on the sides of your bed, a 200x210 cm duvet would be a good choice.

If your partner has a habit of pulling the duvet on their side during the night and you prefer to have your own duvet, we recommend two duvets of 160x210 cm for a double bed of 120x190-200 cm.

Finally, for a 140x190-200 cm double bed, if you want your duvet to provide maximum coverage, a 240x240 cm duvet would be suitable.

By taking these factors into account, you'll be able to choose the perfect duvet size for your needs and ensure a comfortable and restful

In addition to the size of the bed, there are two other factors to consider. First, how much of the duvet you want to fall out on each side of the bed and secondly how much you or you and your partner move around at night.
We recommend the following:
• for a single bed of 80x200 cm, 90x200 cm, and 140x200 cm, we recommend a 140x200 cm duvet
• for more comfort in a single bed of 80x200 cm, 90x200 cm, and 140x200 cm, we recommend a larger duvet, as in160x210 cm (Swiss standard size)
• if you don't want your duvet to hang on the floor next to your bed, a duvet of 135x200cm or 140x200 cm for a double bed of 120x190-200 cm
• On big beds, like those sized 160x200, 180x200 and 240x240, you can use two 160x210 cm duvets.
• a 240x240 cm size duvet for a double bed of 140x190 or 140x200cm, if you want your duvet to cover or even envelop you under all circumstances

What size should you choose for the double comforter?

Of course, if you choose a double comforter as a couple, you have to find a compromise. However, 200 cm long comforters are too short for many men.  Online, the offer for different comforter sizes is growing. Zizzz offers ecological comforters in the comfortable length of 200x220 cm and of course in the classic Swiss length 200 x 210 cm. Is your comforter too long? If you are looking for a shorter double comforter, you will also find it here at Zizzz: We also carry 200x200 cm. And so that tall people can sleep comfortably, we offer the size 240 x 240, ecologically and sustainably produced, for you in our store.

Wool or down comforter? Which one suits you best?

Wool and down are among the most popular natural fibers.
Wool has a thermoregulating effect, which means our wool comforters will keep you warm when it's cold and cool when it's hot. Our wool comforters are naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites. For allergy sufferers, a wool comforter is therefore the first choice.
However, many people also like a fluffy down comforter. Zizzz down comforters have a medium fill weight, making them a good year-round choice for many people.
However, for those who are slightly warm, the Zizzz wool comforter is a better cho

How big should my comforter be?

There is a wide range of comforters available on the Internet and many different sizes are available, if only because each European country has developed its own traditional standards for the dimensions of a comforter. The sizes of comforters are not only country-specific, but also partly regionally different and are significantly influenced by the climate of the respective country.
In Switzerland, for example, large and long comforters measuring 160 x 210 cm are generally preferred. The most popular comforter sold in Austria, on the other hand, measures 140 x 200 cm. Germans prefer to buy narrow comforters with a measurement of 135 x 200 cm. In southern European countries, comforters are hardly used, as people there prefer to snuggle between two thin fitted sheets. Zizzz has expanded its size range in the fall of 2019 in order to cater to the different preferences of Europeans and give every customer a well-deserved night's sleep.
The decisive factors for the length and width of the comforter, in addition to the climate of the country, are on the one hand the body size and on the other hand the sleeping habits. The taller the man, the longer the comforter should be. Swiss men are on average 1.75 m tall, women about 1.65 m. Researchers expect that the average height will continue to increase in the coming decades. Average means that many people are quite a bit taller or shorter and need different formats accordingly. If the mattress is 90-100 cm wide, the comforter width should be at least 135 cm. If the mattress is 140 cm wide, the comforter should be wider than 200 cm, and for large mattresses over 160 cm, comforters with a width of 240 up to 260 cm are recommended.
Also, if you want to pull the comforter over your shoulders or over your ears during the night, or if you often change your sleeping position, you need more than 200 cm, otherwise your feet will be out from underneath and get cold. The traditional size for maxi comforters in Switzerland has a length of 240 cm with an extra width of 160 cm. In between, there are many different formats, especially in online stores.
Everybody is different. 210 can be too long for average height women, because in a bed without a footboard, the comforter can slide down if it is too long.
