A pillowcase protects your pillow, and it is the piece of bed linen closest to your face. Zizzz pillowcases are made of 100% organic cotton in Portugal. You can choose between two weaves: percale (GOTS-certified, several designs) and satin (certified organic cotton, ecru). They come in seven sizes, from 40x60 to 65x100 cm.
Which pillowcase size should I choose?
The pillowcase is the same size as your pillow. Measure the pillow lying flat from seam to seam; the dimensions are often on the label too. In Switzerland, the large traditional rectangular pillow measures 65x100 cm. The rectangular 60x90 cm size is also common in Switzerland and widely offered in French-speaking Switzerland. Percale or satin: which weave suits you?
Percale: matte, cool and hard-wearing
Percale is woven in a plain weave: each warp thread passes alternately over and under one weft thread. The result is an even, dense surface with a matte, cool feel that stands up well to frequent washing. Zizzz percale pillowcases have a thread count of 220 TC and weigh 132 g/m². They are GOTS-certified and have an envelope closure. They come in several reversible two-tone combinations and in white with beige or navy trim. → All percale pillowcases
Satin: smooth, with a subtle sheen
In the satin weave, each thread floats over several threads before it is bound again. The surface has fewer interlacing points, so the fabric is smoother and gets its characteristic subtle sheen. Zizzz satin has a thread count of 276 TC, weighs 120 g/m² and is undyed (ecru). It is made of certified organic cotton. Satin pillowcases close with wood-look buttons. TC (thread count) is the number of warp and weft threads per square inch (6.45 cm²) of fabric.
Envelope closure or buttons?
All Zizzz percale pillowcases, two-tone and with trim, have an envelope closure: a sewn-in inner flap holds the pillow in place, with no buttons or zip. The pillowcase goes on quickly, and nothing presses under your head. Satin pillowcases close with wood-look buttons.
How do I care for organic cotton pillowcases?
All Zizzz pillowcases can be washed at up to 60 °C. Wash them with similar colours. For satin pillowcases, close the buttons before washing. Fabric softener is not needed for cotton bed linen. We recommend changing pillowcases about once a week. How to clean the pillow itself depends on its filling and construction: always follow its care label and air it regularly.

What pillowcase size is common in Switzerland?

No. Satin is a weave, not a fibre. Zizzz satin pillowcases are made of organic cotton, not silk. The satin weave is what gives the fabric its smooth surface with a subtle sheen.
Do the pillowcases have a zip?
No. Zizzz percale pillowcases have an envelope closure: a sewn-in inner flap holds the pillow in place. Satin pillowcases close with wood-look buttons.
How often should I change my pillowcase?
We recommend changing and washing your pillowcase about once a week.

Are there pillowcases in 80x80 or 40x80 cm?
No. The 80x80 and 40x80 cm sizes, common mainly in Germany, are not offered by Zizzz in Switzerland. For a square pillow there are 60x60 and 65x65 cm; for a rectangular pillow, 40x60, 50x70, 60x70, 60x90 and 65x100 cm.
