Dann kam Zizzz!
Das war wie ein Wunder. Heute nenn ich mein Bett mein Traumschiff. Ich gestehe, ich schlafe im Totallook von Zizzz auf einem kleinen flachen Wollkissen, bei dem ich die Füllmenge bestimmen kann, unter der besten Wolldecke, die ich je hatte und die ganze wunderschöne, angenehme Bettwäsche ist inzwischen auch von Zizzz, mit Stofflaken anstelle von Strech. Das gleiche gönne ich übrigens auch meinen Abundzu-Gästen. Zizzz ist das beste, was ich mir vorstellen kann! -

Which 40 × 60 cm pillow suits me?

What is the 40 × 60 cm format good for?
40 × 60 cm is the smallest pillow format at Zizzz: a compact rectangle, noticeably narrower and shorter than the common Swiss size 50 × 70 cm. It takes up less room in the bed and leaves more of the mattress clear.
The format works well if you have a narrower bed, if two pillows should lie side by side without overlapping, or if you want a pillow that does not end up under your shoulders as you sleep. It is also a common choice for guest beds and children's beds.
If you want more surface — to change position in the night without sliding off the pillow, say — there is 50 × 70 cm. For side sleepers, height matters more than surface: on the Swisswool pillow it can be adjusted, on the down pillows it is fixed.

Goose down or duck down in 40 × 60 cm?
Both have the same composition and the same certifications. At Zizzz the goose down pillow is the softer, plumper of the two — it manages with 440 g of filling and is made in Canton Bern. What are the 40 × 60 cm pillows made of?
Swisswool consists of 88 % Swiss virgin wool and 12 % plant fibres. The wool balls in the inner pillow can be removed or topped up, so you can set the height of the pillow yourself. More about Swisswool.

How do I wash a 40 × 60 cm pillow?
Wool pillow: take out the inner pillow and wash the outer shell, which is quilted with a layer of Swisswool, at 30 °C on the wool cycle. The inner pillow with the wool balls does not need to be washed in normal use; airing it regularly is usually enough. Drying without a tumble dryer is covered in our five-step guide.
Goose and duck down pillows: machine washable at 60 °C. What matters is that the filling dries all the way through before you use the pillow again. If the care label allows a tumble dryer, a few clean dryer or tennis balls help to loosen the filling up again.

For side sleepers the right height and support matter most; the surface of the pillow is more a question of personal preference. Are the 40 × 60 cm pillows suitable for people allergic to dust mites?
Both down pillows carry the NOMITE label: the densely woven cotton batiste forms a barrier against dust mites. The wool pillow carries no corresponding allergy certification. Wool does, however, regulate moisture and can thereby contribute to a microclimate that is less favourable to dust mites.
How much smaller is 40 × 60 cm than 50 × 70 cm?
10 cm shorter and 10 cm narrower. Both formats are rectangular and both are available with all three fillings; 50 × 70 cm simply takes up more room in the bed.
