It started with a baby, a sleeping bag and a simple question

When our daughter Carmen was born, our lives changed completely. Like all new parents, we quickly discovered just how important sleep was, for her and for us.

Babies spend a remarkable amount of their first years asleep. We wanted those hours to be as comfortable and natural as possible.

But when friends and family gave us baby sleeping bags for Carmen, we noticed something that surprised us: almost all of them used synthetic materials such as polyester.

That made us wonder: could we make a baby sleeping bag differently?

That question became the beginning of Zizzz.

Looking to nature for better sleep

We live in Switzerland, where wool has long been appreciated for its remarkable natural properties.

Anyone who spends time skiing or hiking knows how useful wool can be. It helps regulate temperature, manages moisture and remains comfortable across changing conditions.

That gave us an idea.

Instead of relying on synthetic insulation, why not use wool in a baby sleeping bag?

The concept was simple. Finding the right material was more difficult.

We needed something natural, light, breathable and practical enough for everyday family life. After searching for the right solution, we found it surprisingly close to home: Swisswool.

Discovering Swisswool

Swisswool is a natural insulation made with 88% Swiss virgin wool and 12% plant-based fibres.

It gave us what we had been looking for: the natural temperature- and moisture-regulating properties of wool in a lightweight filling suitable for our baby sleeping bags.

Wool can absorb moisture vapour and release it again into the surrounding air, helping create a more balanced sleeping environment. It also provides excellent insulation without relying on conventional synthetic filling.

For us, Swisswool was the missing piece.

Our first baby sleeping bags were born.

Natural on the inside and outside

Replacing polyester filling was only the beginning.

A baby spends hours with the fabric of a sleeping bag directly against their skin, so the material surrounding the wool mattered just as much to us.

That is why we chose certified organic cotton for our sleeping bags.

Soft, breathable and comfortable against delicate skin, organic cotton was the natural complement to Swisswool. It also reflected something that was becoming increasingly important to us: making products from thoughtfully chosen materials rather than simply following the conventions of the bedding industry.

This combination of wool and organic cotton became the foundation of Zizzz.

Designed in Switzerland, made in Europe

From the beginning, we wanted to know not only what our products were made from, but also where and how they were made.

Our baby sleeping bags are produced in Portugal, allowing us to manufacture within Europe and work closely with experienced partners.

We also believe that good design should combine function with simplicity and personality. Our sleeping bags therefore had to do more than perform well. They had to be practical for parents and look good too.

Over the years, distinctive patterns such as Lucky Star, Bees, Frog and Balloon have become part of the Zizzz world.

But the idea behind them has never changed: better materials, thoughtful design and more comfortable sleep.

From babies to the whole family

Something interesting happened after we launched our baby sleeping bags.

Parents started asking us a very reasonable question:

"Why don't you make something like this for adults?"

So we did.

Our experience with wool naturally led us to develop Swisswool duvets, bringing the same philosophy of breathable, temperature-regulating natural materials to adult bedding.

We developed different levels of warmth so people could choose the duvet that best suited their sleeping habits and the season.

And once we had made the duvet, another question followed naturally:

What about the pillow?

A pillow designed for real comfort

Our feather and down pillows follow the same philosophy as our duvets: natural materials, thoughtfully chosen.

They're made from a blend of 85% feathers and 15% down, striking a comfortable balance between support and softness — neither too firm nor too soft — wrapped in an organic cotton cover.

Like our down duvets, our pillows are DownPass certified: a guarantee of ethical sourcing for the feathers used, with no live-plucking or force-feeding.

Natural materials, for comfort built to last.

Completing the bed with organic cotton

As our range grew, we realised that there was little point in carefully choosing natural materials for a duvet or pillow if the fabrics surrounding you at night did not follow the same philosophy.

So we developed our organic cotton bed linen.

Today, our collection includes duvet covers, pillowcases and fitted sheets in two different weaves.

Our organic cotton percale is crisp, light and breathable, making it particularly pleasant for people who like a fresh sleeping environment.

Our organic cotton satin has a smoother, softer feel and a subtle natural sheen.

Different sensations, but the same principle: comfortable bedding made from carefully selected natural fibres.

And for those who love down?

Our roots are in wool, and Swisswool remains an important part of who we are. But we also know that everyone sleeps differently.

Some people simply love the exceptional lightness and softness of down.

So rather than telling them to choose something else, we decided to make down products to the same standards we expect from the rest of our range.

For our down duvets, we use high-quality European duck down, combined with an organic cotton cover.

Just as important: our down products are DownPass certified, guaranteeing independent checks on the sourcing and traceability of the down, and excluding practices such as live-plucking and force-feeding.

For us, offering down was never about abandoning our original philosophy. It was about applying it to another traditional natural material.

Better sleep for children, too

Carmen grew, and Zizzz grew with her.

Our original mission had started with a baby sleeping bag, so it felt natural to continue developing products for children as they moved from sleeping bags to their first proper beds.

Today, our range also includes children's duvets and bed linen for children, designed around the same priorities that inspired us in the beginning: breathable materials, comfortable sleep and natural fibres wherever they make sense.

Sleep naturally

We spend roughly a third of our lives asleep.

We believe the materials surrounding us during all those hours matter.

That's why we continue to focus on natural fibres such as Swiss wool, European down and organic cotton, combining their traditional qualities with thoughtful, practical design.

What began with Carmen and one baby sleeping bag has grown into a collection made for the whole family.

And after all these years, our goal remains wonderfully simple:
